It’s that time of year again! Hubby and I packed up our camping gear and headed to Twisted Tryst North.
First, let me explain what it is. It’s “an ever-evolving event that brings swingers, kinksters, and free spirits together to love, play and commune with one another. We invite you to let your clothes and inhibitions fall away at Twisted Tryst. Held at a private campground in Indiana in June, and a private campground in Michigan in August, we strive for immersion and total acceptance in an arena that allows for the most imaginative of play!” quoted from the website directly, because I can’t say it better than that.
My husband calls it my own private Disney World. Because I look forward to this event every year. It’s full immersion in whatever kink lifestyle you are into. Or it’s just a fun as hell weekend. Either way, there is no need to hide, or be subtle about your lifestyle or kink, so yeah…my own private Disney World.
Usually, we have a great time, like mind blowing fun and leave feeling more connected than ever to each other and the dynamic of our relationship. However, mother nature felt the need to mess with us instead. The site we were given was wonderful, nestled in the woods it was perfect. However, it was HOT and HUMID and then it RAINED AND RAINED. We never dried off. Either we were sweaty or rained on. So, we didn’t quite make it all weekend. We were just too hot and wet to be enjoying ourselves. Too hot for sex…yeah, time to throw in the towel. Hubby made the decision on Friday afternoon to pack up and head home. So we did. Was I disappointed? A little, but he made the totally right call. The kids were still at the grandparents house and didn’t want to come home early, so we still had the whole weekend to ourselves. We still connected and had an awesome time, and now we have made the final decision to either rent an RV or one of the cabins at tryst in the future so mother nature has less ammunition against us.
But, as for twisted tryst. It’s an awesome weekend with open minded people who really, truly do not judge anyone around them. No one does kink wrong there. If you are into spanking, there’s a place for you. If you are into hardcore Master/sub relationship, there’s a spot for you too. Are you gay? Not a problem. Transsexual? Come on in. Poly? The more the merrier. It’s just a wonderful group of people who get together to have fun and explore in a safe environment.
There are plenty of educational classes given by experienced people in the lifestyle everything from skills like flogging, caning, etc to relationship classes that deal with Dominance and submission. The dungeon is open the entire weekend, and there is equipment spread out through camp. So if you feel like playing on a St. Andrews Cross in beneath a tree outside at two in the afternoon, go for it. You want to use it by lamp light at eleven pm, it’s there for you to use.
Everything is set up with safety in mind, and they have a team of medics on staff at all times should anything happen either during play, or you’re just not feeling well. This weekend, the heat was a horrible thing to fight, but they had water and Gatorade ready for everyone and encouraged everyone to drink up to stay hydrated.
I really just can’t say enough good things about this group of people. The event is so well planned, it looks too easy to run, but there’s a ton of work that goes into it along with volunteers to help.
If you live in the midwest, or are able to travel to the midwest, I HIGHLY recommend this event. Although we didn’t stay the whole weekend, I’m still glad we were there for the time that we were. I was able to say hi to friends I only see at Tryst, and was able to play with some equipment we just won’t have access to here.
How about you? Do you know of any events in your area you’d like to share? Let me know, and we’ll spread the word.
I’m looking to come for the 10th anniversary. What’s the normal attendance of the event?
