First let me say, I was not given a free copy of this book in exchange for a review.  I purchase my copy…and it was worth every single penny!  Further disclosure: Natasha Knight is one of my favorite Erotic Romance authors, so I may be a little biased in that regard.

When I saw that her book had been released, I couldn’t get to amazon fast enough to purchase it. And just like every book of hers that I’ve read, it was amazing.

Natasha Knight does things in her novels that I wish I had the guts to do.  I’m naturally drawn to the darker side of things. What is that line from Lady Gaga’s song… “When it comes to love, if it isn’t rough, it isn’t fun.”  That just about sums me up, and when I’m not writing romance I like to write dark short stories. (My mother worries about the amount of characters I kill off in twisted ways)   So, of course, I envy Natasha’s talent.

But enough about my author crush, onto the book itself.

Adam

Payback’s a bitch — or it would be for Elle.

Fifteen years ago, my sister was kidnapped. For months, she’d endured hell. Somehow, she’d survived it. Someway, she’d escaped her captors. But it hadn’t mattered. In fact, it had been like losing her twice, because six weeks after she came home, she was dead, and the man responsible was alive and well, oblivious to her fate, ignorant to what he had coming.

Fifteen years I’d been waiting for this moment, all that time, planning, preparing, readying to put things into motion. To finally make the SOB pay for what he’d done.

Killing him was too easy. Too quick. No. There was a much better way to exact revenge.

Take what he loved best.    Break it.   Break her.    I just didn’t realize that in the process of destroying the girl, I’d destroy myself.

Elle

“I only want your pain.”    I hadn’t understood what those words meant, not really. Not until he made me understand.

I noticed Adam the first day he moved into my building. He was a badass on a bike in a thousand-dollar suit. When he looked at me, it was with a hunger just this side of obscene.

Our meetings were strange, accidental. Too coincidental. There was something about Adam. Something I couldn’t put my finger on.

Something I couldn’t resist.

He told me I didn’t know him. He warned me to run as far from him as I could. He was moody. Dark. I’d found it romantic. I didn’t know and wouldn’t realize until it was too late that he’d meant for me to heed his warnings. That some part of him had hoped I would run, that I would escape him.

For too many years, vengeance had fueled him. It had taught him hate. The object of that hate? My father. And me? I was the means to my father’s end. Adam would destroy my father by destroying me.

I accused him of being a monster, of being no different than those who took his sister, but even in the harshest moments, all I could see in his eyes was pain. And like a fool, all I wanted was to touch that darkness.

To make it light.

Please note: Retribution is a dark read with an HEA Adam and Elle will more than earn. No cliffhanger, only a dirty talking Alpha male with an agenda and a liking for dirty, kinky sex.

Sounds like scorcher, right? Well it is!

Adam Smith.  Now, he is a man I would love to run into in a dark alley! He’s not only sexy, and a complete Alpha type, but he is passionate- even when the passion runs the wrong direction.  He is the bad boy you love to hate, and root for throughout the whole book.  Watching his inner conflict unfold was both heart wrenching and thrilling. Even when he’s doing very bad things, Natasha brings out the good in him, shows us that he truly is the hero of our dreams.

Elle Vega. I love a heroine who isn’t too weak to fight, and fight she does. Her internal struggle of both loving and hating Adam had me right there with her.  Even when she’s tired and dazed, she still looks for the good in him.  Still searches for the white light burning inside of him.

The sex scenes in this book were extremely hot, and definitely not for the faint of heart. Like I said, I like rough and tumble, and this book gave everything and then a little more. The more Adam took from Elle during these scenes, the more he seemed to give her back. The give and take between the two characters read seemlessly and naturally.

More than once in this book, I found myself gripping the edges of my kindle (or phone when at work..shh..don’t tell) so hard my fingertips turned white.  And, yes I read it during work…I had no choice I couldn’t put it down for very long once I started it. But let me tell you, the few times I did put it down, it was because I needed to catch my breath!

Overall, Awesome book! The plot was sound and fresh. The characters, believable with just the right amount of lovability. And the sex scenes could not have been better.

Go buy the book. Right now. Why are you still reading this…go…shoo!
