The first book in this MC series, Severed Angel, left me hanging off the side of a very sharp, rocky cliff! I went in search of the conclusion to Eve’s story only to find it hadn’t been released yet. Well! That has all changed. It’s out, and it’s hot! Carnal Desire by K.T. Fisher and Ava Manello satisfied my need for an interesting story, great sex scenes, and characters that I didn’t want to stab with my pen.
In this second book Eve returns home to England to the warm welcome from her mother and baby girl, Elizabeth. She has no idea that Satan is nipping at her heals. Satan, always lurking in the shadows, makes his move- unaware that Angel, Ink, and Elle are nearby. Satan refuses to give up his plan to kill the woman Angel loves.
The story line is exciting enough to keep your eyes glued to the page to find out what happens next. What plot does Satan plan to carry out? How will Eve keep her daughter out of his clutches? Can Elle forgive Ink the ultimate betrayal? These questions keep the pages turning.
Elle and Ink are an interesting couple. They start off with casual sex that’s extremely hot and kinky. It only gets more passionate as the two begin to meld together.
As always when I read, I’m looking for something to learn. With this book, I think what I took away is that having two story lines going at the same time strengthens the story when they link together and push the other forward. I think K.T. Fisher and Ava Manello did a great job with doing this.
The story is written in first person by several different characters. I like this format because it allows for the reader to get into the heads of each character. On the other hand, I think this allows the writer too much leniency to “tell” me the characters thoughts and emotions instead of “showing” them to me. I don’t always want the character completely spoon fed to me. Let me get to know them by their speech, dress, and actions. If a character hates liars, he doesn’t need to tell me. He can show me by punching a liar in the face. Now I know he hates liars. To this end there’s more telling than showing for all of the characters.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and will be looking forward to the upcoming releases from these authors. I’ll be sure to keep you apprised of releases and such.
Now, if you haven’t already left here to go buy your copy, here is where you can find it. Just click on one of my new favorite characters Ink below.
